In short: Compare service on written, measurable commitments — response times, spare-parts dispatch, engineer coverage in your country, remote diagnostics and the warranty terms of the laser source — not on slogans. If a commitment is not in the contract, assume it does not exist.
Warranty, spare parts, remote support and technician response time: a checklist
| Question to ask | A good answer looks like | Red flag |
|---|---|---|
| How fast do you respond to a breakdown? | A response time in hours, in writing, per channel | “As soon as possible” |
| Who comes on site in my country, and how fast? | Named partner or own engineers, travel time stated | Engineers only from overseas, no time given |
| Where are spare parts stocked? | Critical parts list with stock location and dispatch time | Everything ships from the factory on request |
| Is remote diagnostics included? | Secure, customer-enabled access to the CNC; video support | Phone support only |
| What does the warranty cover? | Separate, written terms for machine and laser source | One line with no exclusions listed |
| What training is included? | Days, number of trainees, topics | “Basic training” |
| Which documents do I get? | Manuals, electrical diagrams, parts lists in your language | Manuals only in the factory's language |
The laser source deserves its own line
The laser source is the most expensive component. Ask who repairs it, where, and how long a repair or exchange takes — and whether the source manufacturer has service capacity in your region.
Remote diagnostics
Many faults can be diagnosed remotely from alarms, logs and parameters. Make sure access is secure and only active when you allow it, and that your IT policy permits the connection.
Put it in the contract
Ask for response times, parts dispatch times and training days as numbered clauses. Compare plans like for like — our own commitments and plans are on the Service & Support page.
Frequently asked questions
What is a reasonable breakdown response time?
It depends on your region and plan. What matters is that the supplier commits to a number in writing and that the number is realistic for where your factory is.
Why does laser source warranty matter so much?
It is the most expensive single component. Repair or exchange time and who performs it directly decide how long the machine stands still.
Is remote diagnostics safe?
It can be, if the connection is encrypted, customer-enabled and logged. Ask how access is controlled.
