Laser cleaning

HL-CL laser cleaning machine

Built to remove rust, oxide and paint without blasting media or chemicals.

Handheld and robotic laser cleaning for rust removal, oxide removal and cleaning before welding.

  • Handheldrust & paint removal
  • Roboticinline cleaning
  • No mediano blasting grit or chemicals

HL-CL laser cleaning machines remove rust, oxide, paint and residues with a laser beam instead of blasting media or chemicals. The handheld version is used for maintenance and laser rust removal; the robotic version cleans parts automatically, for example laser cleaning before welding to remove oxide from weld seams.

Highlights

  • No consumable media

No grit, sand or chemicals to buy, store or dispose of.

  • Selective

Clean only the area that needs it, such as a weld seam.

  • Pairs with laser welding

Clean before and after welding with the same kind of fiber laser technology.

  • Handheld laser rust removal for maintenance and refurbishment

  • Laser cleaning before welding: oxide and oil removal from seams

  • Robot-mounted cleaning head for inline use

  • For combined weld/clean/cut in one handheld unit, see the HL-H handheld laser welder

Frequently asked questions

How does laser rust removal work?

The laser heats and removes the thin rust, oxide or paint layer while the base metal reflects most of the energy. It needs no blasting media or chemicals; removed material is captured by fume extraction.

Why clean with a laser before welding?

Oxide, oil and coatings on the joint cause porosity and poor fusion. Laser cleaning removes them selectively along the seam, which suits automated welding lines.

Is laser cleaning safe?

It is a Class 4 laser process: operators need certified laser safety glasses, a screened work area and fume extraction.
