In short: A new fiber laser cutting machine costs from about USD 15,000 (basic low-power import, machine only) to over USD 500,000 (high-power, fully automated systems). Industrial 3–12 kW machines bought through a dealer typically cost USD 55,000–150,000; a 20 kW-class machine costs roughly USD 170,000–400,000+ once bed size and automation are added (our estimate from public listings). Laser power, bed size, automation, brand and after-sales support explain most of the difference.
Fiber laser cutting machine price by power class (2026)
| Class | Typical power | Indicative new price | Who buys it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entry import | 1–3 kW | USD 15,000–40,000 machine only, ex-works China | Small shops, thin sheet, signage |
| Industrial, dealer-supplied | 3–12 kW | USD 55,000–150,000 delivered | Job shops, OEM fabricators |
| High power | 20–40 kW | USD 170,000–400,000+ depending on bed and automation | Thick plate, high-volume production |
| European premium brands | 3–30 kW+ | Quote only; typically well above Chinese-built equivalents | Large OEMs, automotive, aerospace |
Indicative ranges compiled by Halcyon Laser from the sources below, rounded. Prices exclude VAT and import duty unless stated. Reference points: a 3 kW, 3 × 1.5 m Chinese machine exported for roughly USD 21,000 sold by US dealers at USD 63,000–95,000 (Halcyon market check, Oct 2026); OMTech lists industrial fiber machines from USD 56,999 to USD 109,999; a European dealer lists a new Chinese-built 20 kW 3015 at EUR 159,900 plus VAT.
What drives the price
1. Laser power: what a 20 kW laser costs
The laser source is the single most expensive component. Power decides maximum thickness and how fast you cut thin and medium sheet — see chapter 1. For 20 kW-class machines, see the reference prices in the table above.
2. Bed size
3 × 1.5 m is the standard. 4 × 2 m, 6 × 2.5 m and longer beds add frame, gantry and drive cost, and need more floor space and foundation.
3. Automation: laser cutter with loader price
Exchange tables are standard on industrial machines. Automatic loading/unloading and storage towers add significantly to the price but keep a high-power laser busy — see chapter 5.
4. Component brands
Two machines with the same power can differ a lot in cutting head, CNC, drives and guides. Ask for a component list.
5. Distribution and service
The same Chinese-built machine can cost three to four times more once it passes through importers and dealers, who in return provide local stock and engineers (Halcyon market check, see caption above). Buying direct saves the margin; the question is who supports you afterwards — see chapter 6.
Costs that are not in the quote
- Sea freight, insurance and inland transport; crane and rigging on site
- Import duty and VAT in your country
- Foundation and electrical installation — see chapter 3
- Fume extraction and filtration
- Nitrogen supply or air compressor, dryer and filters — see chapter 2
- Engineer travel for installation and training, if not included
- CAD/CAM nesting software licences
Running costs
One 2026 Australian buying guide estimates USD 30,000–60,000 per year for single-shift operation of a mid-range machine (source 5). Calculate your own in chapter 4.
How to compare quotations
- Ask for the brand and model of the laser source, cutting head, CNC, drives and guides.
- Compare the same bed size, power and automation level.
- Check what is included: chiller, extraction, software, spare kit, installation, training.
- Ask for a test cut on your own part.
- Get warranty, remote-support and on-site response times in writing.
- Ask where spare parts are stocked and how fast they ship.
- Check compliance documents for your market before you sign.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a 20 kW fiber laser cutting machine cost, with and without automatic loading?
Asking prices seen in 2026 start at about EUR 160,000 before VAT for a 3 × 1.5 m Chinese-built 20 kW machine without automation (source 3); industry guides put industrial 20 kW systems above USD 200,000 (source 2). Automatic loading and storage add to this.
How much does a fiber laser cutting machine cost in 2026?
From about USD 15,000 for a basic low-power import to well over USD 500,000 for a high-power, fully automated system. Industrial 3–12 kW machines bought through a dealer typically cost USD 55,000–150,000, and a 20 kW-class machine with automation roughly USD 170,000–400,000+ (Halcyon estimate from public listings).
How much does a 20 kW fiber laser cutter cost?
Asking prices for new 20 kW-class flatbed fiber lasers seen in 2026 start at about EUR 160,000 (around USD 170,000+) before VAT for a 3 × 1.5 m Chinese-built machine sold through a European dealer, and industry guides put industrial 20 kW systems above USD 200,000.
Why are Chinese fiber lasers so much cheaper?
Lower manufacturing cost and a large domestic supply chain for laser sources, heads and CNC systems. The trade-off is usually configuration transparency and after-sales support abroad.
Is a used Trumpf or Bystronic a better buy than a new Chinese machine?
It can be, with a known service history and local support. Used Trumpf TruLaser machines are advertised at roughly EUR 60,000–250,000 depending on power and age; laser source condition is the key risk.
